How it works

From first chat to first episode

Here’s the whole journey, from getting in touch to your first episode going live and the month of content that follows, so you know exactly what to expect and how little of your time it takes.

The process

Five steps, and very little of your time

  1. Planning callWe agree what the podcast is for (awareness, trust, leads or a launch), who it’s for and who to invite.
  2. We prepareWe draft the episode outline and questions, brief your guests and sort the logistics.
  3. RecordAt our London studio, at your office or remotely. You just turn up and talk.
  4. We produceEditing, sound, show notes, clips and written posts, sent to you to approve.
  5. Launch, then four weeks of contentThe episode goes live everywhere, with clips and posts scheduled across the month.

Your time per episode

About 3 hours

  • 30 minutes on the planning call
  • Up to 90 minutes recording
  • About an hour reviewing the edit, clips and posts

Everything else is on us.

Before you start

The first chat

Your first conversation is with Damien, who leads every client project. It’s about what a podcast could do for your business, and whether it’s the right move for you at all. It’s a conversation, not a sales pitch. We’ll usually ask:

  • What do you want the podcast to achieve: awareness, trust, leads or a launch?
  • Who do you want to reach, and where do they spend their time?
  • Who could be on it: your team, customers, partners or experts in your industry?
  • Do you already record anything, like webinars, talks or videos?
  • When would you like to launch, and what budget are you working with?

You don’t need a finished idea. Plenty of businesses come to us with just a goal, and shaping the idea is part of the conversation.

Helpful, not essential

What to have ready

  • One sentence on what you’d like the podcast to do for your business
  • Two or three people you’d love to have as guests
  • Links to anything you’ve already recorded, like webinars or videos
  • A rough launch date, if you have one in mind

Then a plan and a clear price

Three ways to start

After the first chat, we come back with a suggested format and a price, with no jargon. Most businesses start in one of three ways.

Questions

Before you get in touch

Anything else, just ask.

Who will I speak to first?

Damien, who leads every client project. He’ll ask what you want a podcast to do for your business and come back to you with a format and a clear price.

How much does a business podcast cost with MBMS?

A pilot episode starts from £750 and a complete episode package from £950, covering recording, editing, show notes, distribution and three social clips. Regular clients can have a tailored monthly package.

How much of our time does each episode take?

About three hours: a 30-minute planning call, up to 90 minutes recording, and around an hour reviewing the edit, clips and posts. We handle the rest.

Do we need to know what our podcast is about before we get in touch?

No. Many businesses come to us with a rough idea or just a goal, like more leads or a product launch. Shaping the idea is part of the first conversation.

Where do you record?

At Great Portland Street Studio in London, at your office or venue with our mobile studio, or remotely with Riverside for guests anywhere in the world.
